Tributes were paid to Joyce Saunders , a former committee member of Ryhall Village Hall, who has died aged 94.
Joyce had served on the committee for 28 years and at the October meeting a minute’s silence was held in her memory .
Her commitment and generosity to the hall – and indeed other organisations in the village – were recalled with warmth.
Anne Virgin, the hall secretary, said: “Joyce was a very caring and generous person. She was much-loved by all.”
Joyce’s late husband, Roland, was also a great supporter of village activities.
A former parish councillor, he was remembered for making sure he attended each village hall AGM, often being the only member of the public there, where he would thank the committee for their work.
In 2016, when Joyce stepped down from the committee, a tea party was held at the hall in her honour.
She was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Anne and Betty Edwards, the hall’s president. Then everyone joined in with a rousing rendition of For She’s A Jolly Good Fellow.
It was all very fitting.
A memorial service for Joyce will be held at St John’s Church, Ryhall, at 1.45pm on Friday 27th October.
