We are saddened to learn of the death of former hall committee member Maurice Annison, who is pictured above.
Maurice, who served on the committee for several years from 2002, died in December, aged 86.
We remember Maurice as an active and practical “hands-on” man.
With Martin Virgin, he was instrumental in crafting the wooden cladding of the hall’s interior walls which give the building such character today.
He and Martin applied themselves with vigour to a job that while demanding has proved longlasting and still very much effective.
The committee spoke warmly of Maurice, and his work and dedication to the hall. His efforts will not be forgotten, members said, and they offered their condolences to Maurice’s family.
The funeral service was at Peterborough Crematorium with a request that any donations be given to Thorpe Hall Hospice and the RAF Association.
